Canon’s focus on imaging and nothing else truly does set it part from the crowd. And that’s certainly true when it comes to the Canon Legria HF–S10. A full HD powerhouse with a raft of extras, this little beast wants to be your next top notch camcorder. But can it do the business? Read our Canon Legria HF–S10 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s what.
Forget the raft of cheap Full HD cammies flooding your local gadget emporia. The Canon Legria HF–S10 is right out of the top drawer, rocking the kind of features that get amateur directors salivating.
The Full HD pics the Canon Legria HF–S10 churns out are nothing short of stunning and are complimented by a very neat 10x optical zoom that helps you capture those You’ve Been Framed moments close up. That £250 prize will be nearer than ever, with the lens stabilised to stop extreme shaky cam. You get an LED light for when things get a tad too dark for regular shooting and there are even manual features just in case you want to come over all professional.
Being a Canon, the Legria HF–S10 is also pretty nifty at taking stills. You’ll find an 8MP sensor on board, and pics appear just as good as any you’ll find on a basic compact. There’s also face detection and a video snapshot mode for when you’re filming, meaning this is ideal for newbies as well as those wanting to make home movie masterpieces.

That’s not to say the Canon Legria HF–S10 is without its problems. The joystick control is nowhere near as good as using a touchscreen. And while the 2.7–inch LCD is clear, there’s no viewfinder, which put us off when were trying to come over all Steven Spielberg.
Be in no doubt, the Canon Legria HF–S10 is a mighty piece of kit. But it feels ever so slightly that Canon is trying to appeal to regular bods as well as pros a little too much. One or the other would have been better.
