The Asus Eee Box dinky desktop has lost its place underneath our flat screen to the Acer Aspire Revo in recent months, but Asus just stepped up to it again with another crack at the lil’ computer: this one’s got ION graphics for HD power.
Unlike Asus’s current Eee Box piddly PCs on sale in the UK, the newly announced Eee Box B1012 crams in the tech to make much better use of that HDMI port on the back. That’s because it’s packing an Atom N330 dual core processors, 2GB of RAM you can double with some tinkering, and NVIDIA Ion graphics.
There’s also a 250GB hard drive and Wi-Fi on board the Eee Box, but it’s that image munching power that really stands out. Not only will it be able to belch out 1080p video, unlike the Acer Aspire Revo, it should even handle Flash video at a pace too.
Whether or not the new Eee Box can beat the Revo’s unbelievable price is another matter entirely, but we’ll let you know as soon as cost and launch date are out.
