amazon-xbox-250gbAmazon Germany published details of a new Xbox 360 Elite bundle with a 250GB hard drive, then swiftly yanked it again.  Cock-up or cover-up?

A Kotaku reader spotted the gaffe, which was quickly corrected and papered over by Amazon Germany. The online book/gadget/everything store published details of an Xbox Elite bundle that would come with two wireless controllers plus a copy of Forza Motorsport 3,  yours for just 279 Euros. Oddly, the Elite was listed with a 250GB hard drive – the highest-end Xbox 360 currently only has a 120GB drive.

This wouldn’t be the first time an online retailer has posted a spurious product listing that proves to be completely inaccurate – hey, it’s practically part of Apple’s new product launch cycle – but as Kotaku points out, Amazon.de did correctly ‘predict’ the PS3 Slim back in July when a listing for a ‘PlayStation 3 Konsole Slim’ briefly winked in and out of existence on.

Microsoft has yet to comment on the listing or any other new storage options for the Xbox 360. We’ll keep you posted.
