Rounding off its week of bombshells, Nokia launched the Nokia N900 touchscreen tablet phone, sporting its slick new Maemo 5 software, and we’ve spied the first hands-on video of the little slate in action. Read on for the viddy.
From the specs Nokia bestowed on us all yesterday, the Nokia N900 looked almost like it could give the company’s Booklet 3G mini laptop a run for its money, but what’s got us all in a fluster now though is the new OS. Based on Linux, it’s as much a treat for the eyes as that guy’s haircut belongs in the 1970s. Hit up the Nokia N900 video and you’ll see just how smooth it is in operation: even the resistive touchscreen looks impressive as it slides between windows, or zooms in and out with spiral gestures.

Just from this glimpse, we can already see the Nokia N900 is shaping up to be a multi-tasking monster, juggling browsers, media, and all your other apps effortlessly. Now, if Nokia could just start shoving this on board certain other smartphones, we’d be set for life.
