android-logoGoogle Android is changing. The first flurry of handsets were somewhat perfunctory, but the next generations og Big G–backed blowers cram in amazing features and interfaces that will make the iPhone look positively old–school. Want the full lowdown on what to expect? Then let us be your guide.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X3
Unceremoniously dumped on the web well ahead of schedule the Xperia X3 is a real looker. As well as a whacking 800×400 4–inch screen, it has the rollocking Rachael UI on board too. This skinned version of Google Android touts 3D contacts, as well as Facebook and Twitter integration, just like Palm’s webOS. This could well be the greatest phone of 2009. If it lands before Christmas, that is.

Motorola Blur
Moto’s been in a right old pickle for years. So it has a lot pinned on its next–gen Android handsets. Set for a 10 September unveiling, the new blowers are said to pack in something dubbed “Blur UI“. This will pull together all your regular and social networking contacts in one place and will be “heavily web–connected” according to gossip–mongering insiders.

Samsung InstinctQ
Forget the slated Samsung Galaxy. The InstinctQ is where it’s at when it comes to Sammy’s Google efforts. There’s a full QWERTY to match the T–Mobile G1, a navigation pad like the BlackBerry Curve 8520. The good news is that O2 will be flogging this bad boy “shortly”, meaning we’ll be spoiled for Android choice very soon indeed.

HTC Hero
Already outed officially, the HTC Hero is without doubt the Taiwanese titan’s hottest Android handset to date. HTC Sense UI takes the regular version found on the Magic and G1 and gives it a slick, stunning makeover. There are now multiple home screens as well as tons more widgets to play around with. Quite simply, it looks the part.

Android Glass phone
Android isn’t just for taking on the road. Android Glass phone for landlines is set to offer some neat tricks to make home calling cool again. We’re talking widgets on an 8–inch screen, Spotify access, visual voicemail and Bluetooth. Sadly there’s no release date, but this points to a connected future for the Big G’s mobile OS.

Does anyone know what carriers in the USA will be getting, or are likely candidates for the Sony Xperia X3? I want one. Now. Can’t wait. :-)
