LG GD910 Watchphone

Let’s not mince our words here, the LG GD910 watchphone is one of THE coolest gadgets we’ve clamped eyes on this year. Since we first laid our peepers on it at CES in January. we’ve wanted one more than a private party with Girls Aloud. But can this slice of futuristic wizardry do the mobile business? Read our LG GD910  watchphone review and find out.

The LG GD910 watchphone is undoubtedly a sleek piece of kit. As a lowly timepiece it really cuts it, sitting pretty on our wrist and looking like it costs more than a spree in Graff’s of Bond Street. That’s probably because it does. £500 to be exact. But for a monkey, is it really worth it?

Well, we hate to say it, but no. As a phone, it actually works really, really well. Video calls are handled over HSDPA, and taking calls on that 1.43–inch touchscreen gives you a real buzz, especially when tech illiterate types are strolling past. It’s even good for firing off texts and the Bluetooth works just as expected, giving you MP3s and hands–free calls like a regular blower. But the price is just too much to stump up.

Yes, there’s the novelty factor. But the fact that you’d pay next to nothing for a cell of this standard down at your local Orange store means justifying the LG GD910 watchphone is harder than trying to do the alphabet backwards, while drunk. There’s absolutely no doubting it will get you stack loads of cool points, but let’s be perfectly honest, it’ll be outdated 6 months into your 18 month commitment.

LG GD910 watchphone unboxed!

And it’s not just the price that’s left us cold. The LG GD910 watchphone does have some techie niggles too. We’re talking very weak voice recognition (it couldn’t even understand the word ‘yes’) and no SD slot, so you have virtually no room for those MP3s thanks to the paltry 80MB memory.

Ok, the LG GD910 watchphone will make you look like Dick Tracey. And if you can afford it, hell, why not. But if you want a real phone with hefty features, this most certainly isn’t for you.
