Samsung Galaxy LiteHold your horses, Sammy. The Samsung Galaxy Lite has just been spotted in papers sent to the legal boffins at the FCC Stateside, meaning a second version of the South Korean giant’s first attempt at Android is on the way. Aren’t you getting ahead of yourself?

It’s the latest smartphone trend: rip a few bits of kit out and sell it all over again with a dinky name badge slapped on. Don’t believe us? Ask Nokia, and now Samsung too. The Samsung Galaxy hasn’t even launched yet, but already the Samsung Galaxy Lite has been cleared for landing in the US at least.

The papers don’t shed much light on the Samsung Galaxy Lite, other than that it’s packing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GSM connectivity (read: European network support) baked in.

HTC Hero review

At a guess, we’d say Samsung will keep the lush OLED screen but strip out the 8GB of internal memory and turn the 5MP camera res down a notch. But if we’re honest, we’d rather Samsung turned its attention to the software side of things, like HTC has with the souped up Sense UI.

And as for the Samsung Galaxy itself? The Google-fueled phone is out on the continent already and while Samsung won’t confirm UK timing, it’s hotly tipped to arrive any day now.
