Elonex iGAME FAMILYAh, Elonex. Say what you will about the British firm and its dodgy netbook dabbling, but it turned out a mighty peepable e-reader not too long ago. This won’t help any favour it’s curried though: the newly launched Elonex iGAME FAMILY, a motion control games console cum iPod dock. And yes, alas, it has its own app store.

If for some reason you’re itching to get in on this motion control gaming fad but haven’t managed to buy a Wii at some point over the last three years, the Elonex iGAME could be for you. As well as streaming your media from your iPod or iPhone on to your TV like a good dock should, it doubles as a wireless motion control console, letting you play games like Bowling, Darts, Ping Pong and even Sudoku from the comfort of your sofa.

Don’t float your boat? How about this? There’s going to be an Elonex iGAME app store. Developers can flog their games for the platform for anything between 99p and £4.99, with Elonex taking a 30 percent slice of the pie.

No, we don’t see this one vying with the iPhone App Store for sales and innovation either. There is good news though: Elonex says the iGAME could soon pump through iPhone and iPod touch apps and games on to your TV. Considering how swish some of the graphics are to squizz on the latest touchscreen games, that’ll be a treat on the old pupils. Might be worth holding back until then though.

Out September | £79 | Elonex
