Defying all expectations, Microsoft’s Bing search engine met with positive reviews when it launched earlier this year, and now its results are about get a whole bit brainier: it’s inked a deal to show Wolfram Alpha’s sciencey search results.
If you’ll recall, Wolfram Alpha is the geeky Google rival that tries to answer queries with mathematical results and graphs. It’s had a limited impact so far, but TechCrunch reports that a deal’s been struck to licence its data to Bing.
What that means for anyone in need of help wth their homework is you may soon be able to tap a complicated equation into Bing and have the answer binged right back to you. Whether Wolfram Alpha’s branding will appear along with the answers is still unclear, or when they’ll start appearing, but we’ll let any would-be brainiacs know once it’s concrete.
