Ricoh CX2 super-zoom compact spied

That was fast. The Ricoh CX2 compact camera with paparazzo-perfect zoom has been unveiled, just 5 months after its predecessor, the Ricoh CX1, went on sale. Want to know what this one’s packing? Read on.

Ricoh CX1 owners shouldn’t feel to shortchanged that the Ricoh CX2 has followed up so quickly: it’s still packing the same 9 megapixel sensor, but with a few extra tweaks at no extra cost.

For one thing, the optical zoom on the Ricoh CX2 now reaches all the way to 10.7x, meaning you’ll be able to get that pic of Russell Crowe without the fear of him smashing your point and shoot in half.

Shooting speed has been upped too to five frames per second, but to make the Ricoh CX2 as easy for novices as a compact should be, face detection and auto focus have been tweaked.

The Ricoh CX2 is out here early next month for the same price as the CX1 hit: a nice £299.99. Have a peep first in our gallery right here.
