Sony finally coughed up with the PS3 Slim yesterday at its Gamescom prezzer and while the skinnier console-cum-multimedia machine won’t be hitting stores until next month, we’ve scoped out shots of the little black box from every angle already. Come see them all in our gallery!
The PS3 Slim may drop the size and the cost but it still manages to keep in the good bits from its bigger brother, including Blu-ray support and HDMI. There’s also Sony Bravia Sync support, so your PS3 Slim will turn off when you flick off your TV, and even allow XMB access via the flatscreen’s remote control. Oh, and did we mention it also plays games?
It’s not all good news though: the PS3 Slim still doesn’t offer PS2 support and you can’t install Linux on it as you’ve been able to previous models. But on the plus side, the PS3 Slim is selling for £249.99, rather than the less favourable €299=£299 translation we feared Sony would opt for.
Have a look at the PS3 Slim up close in our gallery and we’ll be back with even more news and fallout from the Sony event before you know it.
Out September | £249.99 | Sony
