Garmin nuviWe’ve seen a few potential Android portable media players to rival the iPod touch of late, but how about a satnav? A new Garmin nuvi PND range is in the pipeline and well as getting you from A to B, they’ll get you online, watching videos and even taking photos.

That Creative should be trying to come up with a device to take on Apple’s touchtastic PMP came as no surprise but last time we checked, Garmin’s big rival was TomTom.

Still, that’s not stopped it from preparing the Garmin nuvi 1820. It’s a satnav yes, but the extra features list is as long as a traffic jam on the M25: as well as a 4.8-inch WVGA screen, there’s Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, an internet browser with YouTube support, email and multimedia playback capabilities.

There’s even a 3MP camera version, the Garmin nuvi 1860, to rival the iPhone for snap taking – and presumably the new iPod touch too. There’s no word yet of a release date for the new Garmin nuvi range, but expect more deets from IFA in early September.
