The TomTom iPhone app is already flying out of the Apple App Store. But the slick new car kit is yet to land. When it does, though, it’ll work with 3rd party satnav apps as well as the iPod touch, according to a TomTom exec. Read on for all the details.
With the TomTom iPhone car kit still some way away you may be holding off lashing out £59.99 for the UK and Ireland maps. But if you fancy it and would rather stump up for the CoPilot iPhone app instead, you’re in luck.
TomTom’s Yann LaFargue has told Mac4Ever that the car kit, “will work with the iPod touch and will also work with 3rd party GPS applications.” That means you can slap the CoPilot iPhone app on there. At just £26, it’s a great cheap alternative.
TomTom for iPhone hits the app store
However, the TomTom iPhone car kit is yet to be officially priced, with one retailer claiming a £113 price tag for the sucker and stand plus the app to boot. That means you may need to pony up for the TomTom iPhone app in order to get the car kit.
The fact it’ll work with the iPod touch is also a winner. Here’s hoping to hear more when the slick new iPod touch makes an appearance next month.
