The Dell Android phone we finally caught a glimpse of last week has been outed officially: called the Dell Mini 3i, it’s just gone on show for the very first time. One problem though: it doesn’t look like it’s due for a UK release.
The Dell Mini 3i Android phone has just been unveiled in China and it’s a handsome handset, stuffed with a 3MP camera, Bluetooth, a microSD slot and a 3.5-inch 360×640 touchscreen.
But what about 3G, we hear you ask. What about it indeed. The Dell Mini 3i is 2G only, making it the slowest Android phone yet for surfing the net and it doesn’t have Wi-Fi either. Those 2 specs strongly suggest that the Dell Mini 3i will remain stuck in the Middle Kingdom, where Wi-Fi connectivity isn’t allowed in phones.
We spoke to Dell to see if the Dell Android phone would be UK bound, but were told that the company has “not made any announcements and will not comment on projected products, dates or regional availability.” Our prognosis? Not good. Here’s hoping Acer makes a better stab at its first Android phone.
