The current Facebook iPhone app is a bit, well, average. Outdated and in need of a serious overhaul, the Facey–B bigwigs have been beavering away on an update, which has just been submitted to Apple for the thumbs up or thumbs down. Joe Hewitt, a software engineer at Facebook, has used rival social networking giant Twitter to out the news that the new Facebook iPhone app is on its way. Dubbed Facebook 3.0 for iPhone it includes a raft of improvements that make it slicker and utilise the skills of the iPhone 3GS.
The new Facebook iPhone app will include the much–loved ‘like’ button from the full–on version of the site, a news feed that emulates the full version and a customisable home screen.
On top of that it’ll play nice with the video app on the iPhone 3GS. That means you’ll be able to feed your friends with a slew of shonky clips via your new Apple blower. Apple is currently taking a look at the new Facebook iPhone app, so expect it to land in the next few weeks.
