Qik app hits iPhone 3GS

qik-for-iphone-3gsQik, the mobile app that lets you to upload video from your phone to the web, has just popped up for the iPhone 3GS at the App Store. Unlike old versions of Qik, this one allows you to pluck video clips straight out of the iPhone 3GS’s Camera Roll and upload them to your Qik account – and apparently it’s the only iPhone 3GS app able to do so.

Other features include automatic uploading (basically the video uploads straight after you finish recording, without the need to press any buttons), the ability to shoot in both portrait and landscape and location sharing. The latter geotags clips, embedding them with location info so that anyone viewing can see exactly where they were shot.

You can grab the free app now, but frustratingly it’s currently limited to uploads after recording rather than other versions’ live streaming, and also it can only be used with Wi-Fi. Qik says it has submitted a 3G-compatible update to Apple for approval, but in the meantime it’s Wi-Fi only.
