samsung_i7500Samsung’s debut Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy i7500, will launch next week exclusively on the O2 network, according to reports. Read on for more info.

We’ve known all about the Samsung Galaxy i7500 for a while (see it face off against the HTC Hero in a stat clash here), but if Register Hardware’s info is correct, it could be with us in the flesh very soon. The website unearthed the launch date by consulting staff at O2 stores, who then checked the stock system.

There’s still no word on the price, but on the spec front we already know that the Samsung Galaxy i7500 will feature a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 8GB of internal storage and a 5MP camera.

Thanks for the post. Cant help but comment. Speculation had been building in an O2 online forum that the i7500’s launch had suffered a setback after allegedly failing to pass O2’s handset accreditation process. Exactly what it may have stumbled on isn’t clear, but the spokeswoman said that all the carrier’s phones go through a “customer experience process” prior to launch. Remains to be seen

[...] Still, this does give us a good idea of what LG thinks should be in a budget Android handset.  The LG GW880 comes with a 3.5-inch WVGA touch screen,  512 MB ROM/256MB RAM, GPS, Bluetooth and 5 megapixel camera with a slimline form factor. Ramp up the storage and make that an OLED screen and it doesn’t look a million miles from the Samsung Galaxy. [...]
