Now here’s a tie–up we thought we’d never see. Word on the web is Microsoft Office is about to makes its way onto Nokia phones, with both major players plotting a press conference at 4pm today, London time. Want to know what’s going down? Read on.
Microsoft Office is already engaged in a tug of war with Google Docs for your cloud–based affections. And the battle looks like it’s about to move to a new front, with Redmond priming Office for an appearance on Nokia phones.
The deal would see Nokia’s high–end smarties offer the likes of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. In a move that’ll doubtless bring into question why anyone would want a Windows Mobile phone, Nokia and Microsoft are both clearly hoping this will help bring the pain to both Apple and Google in the battle for smartphone supremacy.
