iTunes 9 isn’t just going to come packing Blu–ray, if the latest tittle–tattle is to be believed. New rumours suggest Cupertino is busying itself with its very own social networking app, which will tie into the music software, as well as acting as a home for all your feeds and friends. How will it work? Keep reading and we’ll tell you.
The Apple social networking app has been dug up by the same chaps at Boy Genius Report who first talked up Jobs and co’s Blu–ray plans. It says that iTunes 9 will hook up with a new, separate social networking tool that will bring together all your feeds in one neat place.
The idea is to allow the social networking app to broadcast the tunes you’re currently grooving to in iTunes, share music with folks on whatever network takes your fancy and update your statuses whether you’re a Twitter nut or Facebook freak.
Apple’s next big thing: a file format?
At the moment, this remains firmly in the rumour category, But an app that works on both your Mac’s desktop and on your iPhone’s home page would put Apple at the vanguard of the current social networking frenzy.
Apple does have social networking previous, combining Facebook and Flickr fun with the most recent version of iPhoto. But this really would be a huge leap and consolidating iTunes position as top dog in the music world.
