Naff all–in–one audio boxes are the default fallback for many of gadget land’s biggest (and smallest) players. But every so often one comes along and make us realise why these little do–it–all boxes are worth lashing out for. Ladies and gentlemen meet the Monitor Audio Airstream 10, the most novel way yet to nab tunes from your hard drive and iPod while serving up DAB and FM radio to boot. So can it live up to the hype? Read our full Monitor Audio Airstream 10 review to find out.
Let’s not hang about here: the Monitor Audio Airstream 10 looks bonkers. Its design might look like it belongs in an East London art gallery, surrounded by Barley–esque berks in massive specs, but this is truly a piece of cutting edge kit.
We’d be more than happy if the Monitor Audio Airstream 10 dealt with internet radio with a dash of DAB thrown in. But it can also pull tracks from any hard drive, using UPnP streaming to serve up the tracks you want without having to feed it an iPod or CD.

Speaking of iPods, there is an auxiliary input for it or any other MP3 player. And the fun doesn’t stop there. The internet radio easily snatches Listen Again programmes so you can delight in your George Lamb addiction no end. The Monitor Audio Airstream 10’s speakers aren’t slackers either. They might only be 7W, but they chuck out ample noise. Perfect for sticking in your office and bedroom we reckon.
That said the Monitor Audio Airstream 10 does have it issues. It’s about as portable as its caravan namesake and is only mains powered, which kind of hampers those lovely, British designed bod’. That said the Monitor Audio Airstream 10 is one of the hottest gadgets we’ve seen all year.
