Stifle those yawns, it might be Monday but it’s also lunchtime! Just enough time to stick the kettle on, ram a sandwich down your throat and catch up on all the day’s tech news so far!
First up, news that’ll have movie-loving Mac fans in a tizzy: it seems the next version of iTunes could come packing Blu-ray support. Of course, that also means we’ll need new Macs with Blu-ray drives inside. iMac update, anyone?
There’s other Blu-ray news too, with word that Toshiba has finally put the HD-DVD debacle behind it and applied to join the Blu-ray Disc Association. That means the megafirm will soon be cranking out Blu-ray players like no tomorrow, and since it’s also been using Cell technology in its TVs and existing DVD players, they could be the most powerful we’ve ever seen.
What? You want more Mac news? Be our guest. There are more whispers online that Apple has a new format for selling digital movies and music. Dubbed Cocktail, it promises to be a more interactive, rich media experience. Think of it as a sort of digital special edition, or a virtual box set. Or just another way to squeeze more money from your credit card.
All that, and there’s an Xbox 360 update due to land tomorrow, bringing Games on Demand and an Avatar Marketplace amongst other goodies.
