Blu–ray for iTunes incoming?

apple-displayStill bleary–eyed after a weekend of cheap booze and barbecues? Well, your tired peepers could be about to get a treat, with reports emerging that iTunes is set to get a healthy dose of Blu–ray support. Want to know when? Read on and find out.

Boy Genius Report has managed to get the skinny on Apple’s plans to unleash Blu–ray on iTunes 9. It’s had word from “a pretty reliable source” that the HD format is coming to Apple’s music and movie mad software.

That almost certainly means that the next–generation of the iMac will support Blu–ray, in spite of Steve Jobs known concerns about loading up his lovely machines with the HD format.

It also tallies with other web chatter which says the iMac is about to get an upgrade, with Blu–ray very much on the cards. If that is the case, we can expect an announcement, at least regarding iTunes, at Apple’s September iPod event. It’s shaping up to amazing too, with the iProd Apple Tablet and new iPod touch both said to be on their way.

iTunes 9 is also rumoured to include visual organisation of your apps, whether they’re on an iPhone or iPod touch, with Twitter, Last.fm and Facebook integration mooted too.
