Creative Zii EggCreative has selected Opera as the default web browser for its Creative Zii Egg portable media player – or at least as the default browser for those using Creative’s own Plaszma operating system rather than the Android option.

Plaszma is a Linux-based OS, and it seems that Creative has selected Opera due to its compatibility with web-based apps. Basically, Creative is hoping that developers will be quick to start rustling up interesting apps and widgets for the Zii Egg due to its use of Opera.

Will this work? We don’t know – but we imagine most developers would rather spend their time making apps for an already-established OS like Android than for Plaszma. Guess we’ll have to wait and see whether the community embraces Creative’s tech or not…

You realise there is already a reasonble selection of apps to get for Opera? The desktop, mobile and Wii have been supporting these for nearly 2 years now…

Of course the big difference, is these are actually useful and don’t cost anything to buy. You also don’t have to buy DRM infested hardware to use them either.
