iphone 3gsYou can already pick up an iPhone 3G on the QT from T–Mobile, as we found out yesterday. But it seems things are about to go legit’ and over the counter, with a new report claiming O2′s iPhone exclusivity will come to an end on 9 October. So where will you be able to pick up this new network–friendly iPhone? Read on and we’ll serve up all the deets.

Rumours of O2′s deal to flog the iPhone here in the UK coming to an end just won’t die. T–Mobile and Orange are both readying themselves for some Apple action, but a new report on mobile–ent.biz claims the exclusive contract will be officially killed off on 9 October.

T–Mobile iPhone 3G on sale in UK

The site says it’s seen “documentation” which says the exclusive part of the deal will end in the autumn, opening the door for other operators to get to grips with the iPhone. However, it remains unclear whether O2 will retain the iPhone 3GS, while its rivals shift the old–school iPhone 3G.

Previous reports have said that is likely. But with the iPhone only sold exclusively here, the US and the Germany, it would come as no surprise to see it spread its wings and give O2 the heave.

I am waiting for this to hit. I love the iPhone but would not consider using it on any other UK network but Orange. Should have one within 6 weeks :-)
