One of new features brought in by last year’s Xbox 360 Dashboard update was the ability to install games to the console’s hard drive, thus cutting down on disc spinning (and therefore noise). Trouble is, installing games takes up a ton of space – something in short supply on a 20GB Xbox 360 once you factor in game demos and videos. Well, the good news is that the next Dashboard update will make these installs much smaller.
In the case of King of Fighters XII, the install size went from 3.4GB pre-update to just 703MB post-update. Impressive. However, according to one Engadget commenter Oblivion dropped from 6.7GB to 5.9GB, which is less wow-worthy.
The new update is rolling out on 11th August, bringing with it a number of (fairly minor) changes.
