INQ1: Twitter update kiboshed

INQ1Anyone who’s just picked up an INQ1 social networking phone of late will have just cause to kick themselves: not only has the INQ Mini 3G all but replaced it, with similar specs in slimmer shell plus integrated Twitter, but INQ’s confirmed to us it won’t be rolling out the micro blogging service to its predecessor either.

We asked INQ’s marketing and strategy director Jeff Taylor whether it would be backdating Twitter to the INQ1 via over the air updates, and he told us outright that it wasn’t on the roadmap. “Twitter is not currently on plan to go back to the INQ1,” he said.

Oh well. It’s not all doom, gloom and outmoded tech though: you can still Twitter on an INQ1 with a Java app like Snaptu. The only downer is it’s not integrated right into your messaging inbox, and can’t be updated over the air like INQ plans to its own Twitter widget for the INQ Mini 3G and INQ Chat 3G. INQ stressed to us that the INQ1 isn’t being replaced by the Mini and will still stay on the market, but we say go with the littler latter, unless you really need instant MSN alerts.
