Yes, dear reader, you read that right. The stunning Leica S2 DSLR has just been priced up, with the body alone costing a tear–inducing £15,996. Talk about flicking Vs at the recession. So what do you get for the best part of 16 grand? Keep reading and find out.
The Leica S2 is no regular camera. Cramming in a massive 37.5 megapixels, it’s possibly the hottest snapper we’ve ever seen. There’s an ultra–fast MAESTRO image processor, with a 3–inch screen round the back and a quiet autofocus too.

The body measures just 35mm deep, with a 30×45mm sensor under the hood. For an extra £4,000, you’ll be able to get pally with the Leica S2–P, which also includes a sapphire glass monitor screen and “S–Body Platinum Service.” Leica says the latter will be detailed ahead of the camera’s official release in September, a whole year after it was first unveiled.
It goes without saying that this camera isn’t about taking shonky pics at gigs or of your mates drinking Jammy Donuts, a la Steven Gerrard, of a Friday night. Still, if you’re loaded and want to reel off pics of celebs falling out of people carriers, then the Leica S2 is perfect.
