Sky PlayerSky Player, Sky’s online TV service, is to drop broadcast ads you’d see on the box, and switch to a new model with commercials tailored to your taste. Big brother or no bother? Read on to see what’s in store.

Off the success of the Ashes being streamed online to offices around the country on Sky Player, Sky is planning to drop the traditional commercial breaks on the web service. The new ad service being prepped for Sky Player is called Smart TV, and while there’s no confirmed date for the changeover just yet, the broadcaster’s even planning to rope it in to its regular satellite service too. Is this the beginning of the end for the traditional ad break brew?
