A Spotify iPhone app may be imminent, but if you don’t fancy a £10 a month subscription on top of your monthly bill to stream music to your phone, Orange has the solution: its new Orange Monkey tariff on Pay As You Go will stream hours of songs straight to your blower, without a hefty data charge. Read on to find out just how it’s done.
Top up £10 a month on the Orange Monkey tariff, and not only will you get access to a website stuffed full of Universal label tracks to listen to, but you’ll even be able to catch them on your phone too. All you have to do is dial 247 to tune in: you don’t need a 3G handset and you don’t need a data tariff. Low-tech, yes, but cheap too.

As part of the new deal hatched between Orange, Universal and Channel 4, you’ll be able to listen to 600 minutes of playlists put together by Universal and 4Music’s sonic brainiacs. It’s a smart move to help bring those who can’t afford the latest smartphones in on the latest trends, and while Orange hasn’t confirmed any other labels for the service, we’re crossing more than a few digits others will come on board soon.
