For months, an official Facebook Android app seemed as unlikely as a dry British Summer. Why would two arch rivals help each other out? That’s all about to change though, with insiders confirming that the social networking wonder app will hit the Android Market in just days.
TechCrunch has it on good account that the Facebook Android app is ready to go, and while it won’t pack all the feature of the Facebook iPhone app (specifically, no inbox), it will offer the full Facebook stream so those pokes, boasts and status updates will just come rolling on in.
With the number of Android handsets poised to explode, Facebook has had a change of heart, and was even willing to accept a helping hand with a Google Android engineer loaned out to help create the Facebook Android app.
The Facebook Android app should be ready to download shortly, and potentially as soon as this week.
