The new Sonos controller has grabbed the headlines today, but the multiroom music firm’s already looking beyond the CR200 and to a new tie–up with Spotify. Speaking at the launch of the CR200 last week, Mieko Kusano, from Sonos told us, “Spotify is a company we are interested in.” Keep reading to find out just when we can expect a Sonos/Spotify love–in.
With the impending Spotify iPhone app and its revolutionary take on the music business, the streaming service is hot property right now. And Sonos wants in on the action. Speaking to us last week, Sonos’ Mieko Kusano said she was “interested” in Spotify as a partner.
“We’ll partner with whoever we think is attractive. Spotify is a company we’re interested in, but it depends how and when we can intersect with them. Digital music’s all about giving people choice.”

Sonos already has a killer link with Last.fm, its latest update offering access not only to band radio but also artist information, influences and even tour dates. A hook up with Spotify, though, would surely lead to even greater things.
Spotify is already the hottest thing in music, with the Spotify iPhone app all set to take the world by storm. Surely some Sonos action would take the streaming service even further. Here’s hoping they can something hammered out soon.
