HTC Snap

Forget, for a tiny moment, all those sleek sexy smartphones currently enticing gadget candy fans everywhere. Because sometimes, it pays to keep things simple. Hence the rather neat HTC Snap. There’s no touchscreen here, no unique, Apple–bashing design. Just some solid Windows Mobile action for the planet’s Microsoft mad workaholics.

Thankfully for those who spend hours tapping out high–powered missives, the keyboard on the HTC Snap is second to none. Each key has a neat, dome–like design. And that means even those with digits the size of Cumberland sausages will find tapping away easier than firing low ranking employees. It’s right up with the best BlackBerry Bold.

Emailing is made even more productive thanks to the clever Inner Circle app. Define which colleagues, enemies and pals are part of your inner circle, tap the dedicated button, and their messages shoot to the top. We found this was ace for getting your most important email quickly when you’re in a dash to yet another business meeting.

Feature fans will be glad to see HSDPA and GPS with Google Maps here. However, there’s no 3.5mm jack for your own headphones and the camera disappoints at a meagre 2–megapixels.

Windows Mobile 6.1 is here too and with it all the quirks and inadequacies that make it such an infuriating OS in these days of Android and iPhone. You will find that the battery life is on the right side of lengthy, offering us three days before we needed to find some juice.
