Apple’s plans for a new iPod touch and iPod nano have been well and truly rumbled. After a “well–connected” source talked up a camera-toting iPod touch, new case designs for both the new touch and iPod nano again show off Cupertino’s snap–happy new direction for the world’s favourite PMP.
Plans for the next–gen iPod touch and iPod nano have been rumoured for a few weeks now. But the latest batch of shots of new cases from China throw up some interesting tidbits about Apple’s latest efforts, due for an official airing in September.
The new iPod touch appears to have a camera slap bang in the middle of its rear, rather than offset like the one on the iPhone. There’s no word on whether this will better the 3.2–megapixel number in the iPhone 3GS.
As for the new iPod nano, the body remains much the same, with the screen getting slightly wider and a camera shoved in the corner. That means you’ll hold it like a conventional compact to take pics.
New iPod touch: camera and mic incoming
Word on the street is that prices will remain the same, but that the iPod touch will now rock 64GB. There’s no more news on whether a video app, like the one found on the iPhone 3GS, will be landing on the iPod touch. That would certainly make sense and could utilise the jukeboxes Wi–Fi powers.
