The Sony S-Series Walkman looks set to get a makeover that’d make Gok Wan envious: this leaked press shot shows what could well be the successor to the popular line of MP3 players. Will it be enough to hold off the onslaught of new iPod nanos just around the corner?
Apple doesn’t have a monopoly on updating its PMP line-up in the Autumn, as this sneak snap that escaped the fortress of Sony HQ shows: what we’re looking at here is the next-gen Sony S-Series Walkman with some dodgy colours (red, purple, pink and a more sensible black) but some tastier specs too.
For one thing, this new Sony S-Series Walkman appears to be packing speakers all over: bad news if someone pulls it out at the back of the bus, but a godsend if you want to listen to music lying on the beach.
If this new Sony S-Series Walkman follows in the footsteps of its PMP predecessors you can also expect video skills baked in, an FM radio (take that, iPod) and a stonking battery life, although how much boot space Sony will put inside remains to be seen. Hey, how about one of those Memory Stick slots, Sony? They’re quite handy.
