Fans of poking (quiet at the back), messaging and tagging have cause to celebrate this Friday, as long as they’re packing a Vodafone mobile in their pocket. The network’s giving all its customers free access to Facebook through their phones for a week!
The free Facebook access is part of Vodafone’s Free Friday promotion, which also offered customers free mobile internet access back in May.
The free Facebook promo will last for seven days, and means no matter how many pictures you gawp at, messages you send or pokes you make it’ll all be free. Perfect if you’ve got a Facebook friendly phone, like the Nokia N97.

Vodafone’s also offering free Facebook text alerts. Simply sign in to www.facebook.com/mobile and set which notifications you’d like to receive via free text. They can be anything from pokes to status updates. You can even respond via text too, although you’ll incur the normal charge for messages.
But it doesn’t end with mobile phones, anyone tapping into Facebook with a laptop hooked up to Vodafone’s mobile broadband service will also dodge the usual fees.
Browsing other sites will still be chargeable at Vodafone’s standard rates, but anyone using mobile broadband to access Facebook will see their data counter stop for the time they use and browse Facebook.
