Lost amid the hullabaloo over the PSP Go at E3 was news of direct video downloads to Sony’s handheld hub. And now the service has gone live, in Japan at least, with punters able to snaffle clips over Wi–Fi without having to hook their PSP up to their PS3 or PC. Read on to find out what you can expect from these tasty PSP downloads.
With Sony’s PSP Go due on 1 October, it’s no surprise that the Big S has got the direct download bus up and running. Japanese PSP owners can now hit up the PSN store on their PSPs and take their pick from 90 or so videos.
These are both for keeps and rental, with some HD goodies up for grabs. Fortunately you won’t need to watch these while squinting at your PSP: they can be transferred to your PS3 and watched on your TV. See, Sony’s clever like that.
Sony is keeping quieter than a Cistercian monk about when European and US folk get to play nice with PSP downloads. But seeing as the PSP Go is just a couple of months away, we’re expecting it very soon.
