Apple seems to have made it clear that it’s not prepared to get down in the dirt and wrestle for scraps in the netbook market. But is it planning something else? A mini MacBook but with a slightly more regular sized price tag? Or is it all smoke and mirrors while it tries to deflect attention away from a Mac tablet/big iPhone that’s in the works? The Electricpig Forum wants to know.
On the question of how much you’d part with for a smaller footprint MacBook, master and commander James Holland would slap down the cash in a second if it meant he could leave his MacBook Pro at home occasionally.
Reviews ed Joe Minihane would happily fork out for an Apple netbook, especially something along the lines of the long lost 12in PowerBook, but is less sure about the tablet idea.
Completing the Electricpig triumvirate, Ben Sillis would like something chunkier than a MacBook Air with some proper oomph under the bonnet.
It’s not a complete Apple love in, however, with Bongo countering: “Stupidest thing ever. Who wants a netbook Mac if they already have a small laptop? Besides, anyone who buys a small Mac deserves everything they get – the last one I used was a Mini at uni, and it sucked the big one.”
Is there are market out there for a smaller MacBook or is the tablet more the way to go? The debate is still flowing on the Forum, so jump in and say your piece.
