There’s no doubting a new iPod touch is approaching touchdown. Apple’s annual September iPod jamboree is mere weeks away. And now rumours of a camera–toting touch are growing louder, with plans for an on–board microphone also outed. Read on to find out how the new iPod touch will destroy its PMP rivals.
After plenty of web chatter about the next–gen iPod touch getting snap happy, Apple’s latest plans for the iPhone–alike jukebox are becoming clearer. Wired says it’s spoken to “a well–connected source” who says not only that there’ll be a camera round the back, but also that there’ll be an on–board microphone.
That would certainly make sense. Any mic would mean Apple could push the super–successful iPhone 3GS video app onto the iPod touch, letting punters inundate YouTube with inane clips.
7 must–have next gen iPod touch upgrades
And that’s before everyone gets all het up about its VoIP capabilities. Chucking in a mic would essentially turn the iPod touch into a Wi–Fi phone, with penny–pinching Skype lovers no longer needing to shell out on a special headset to make wireless web calls.
The new iPod touch is due to land in September and we’ll be there when it does. And hopefully it’ll come with the must–have upgrades we’ve already outlined. 64GB and HDMI anyone?
