We’ve unboxed the Elonex eBook already, but now we’ve had a bit of a read of it we thought you might like to too. Is it the Kindle killer – or Kindle substitute here in the UK – we’ve been crying out for and can it unseat the Cool-er in our hearts and on our bookshelves? Read on and see for yourself in our hands-on video!
The eBook market is becoming more and more cut throat every day and the Kindle isn’t even out here yet. First the Cool-er arrived to bother the Sony Reader and now hot on its heels is the Elonex eBook, a similarly specced e-reader with a 6-inch eInk screen that’s easy on the eyes.
Even the software on the Elonex eBook is identical to that on the Cool-er, but the big difference is on the outside: gone is the tacky shell we had reservations of and in its place is a matte spine plus pair of covers that’s comfortable to hold, and won’t have you attracting strangle glances while you try to figure out whodunnit on the bus.
The Elonex eBook is available in Borders bookstores now, but check it out in our hands-on video first to see if it’s enough to tempt you away from the Cool-er.
