Talk of a PS3 Slim is still rife, in spite of Sony keeping mum at E3 and its CEO dead–batting any plans for a price cut for the costly hub. But now the most concrete evidence yet of the slimmed down funbox has emerged, with one gaming site claiming to even have one stashed away in its offices. Add some grainy video and it’s surely just weeks until the PS3 Slim is outed in its official glory.
Word of a PS3 Slim first surfaced nearly two years ago and was followed by some blurry spy shots. But in the run up to E3, chatter about its impending arrival had gaming fanatics thinking the Big S was about to show it off alongside the PSP Go. That wasn’t the case, but it’s clear something is afoot.
PS3 Motion Control – more plans unleashed
In the most recent Game Scoop! podcast, an IGN staffer lets slip that he’s had a play with one in their own offices. In a back and forth with his fellow presenter, he says, “…we have one for real.” In reply, his cohort claims that’s “under wraps” before saying they’ll edit any reference to the PS3 Slim out. Obviously someone let it through the net though.
Chuck in video unearthed by Kotaku of a supposed PS3 Slim doing the rounds in the Philippines and you’re looking at an impending release for the rejigged console .
The question is, will the PS3 Slim come in cheap? Sir Howard Stringer says not, but maybe the Sony CEO was just keeping us guessing.
