Rumours of a new Xbox 360 packing in Project Natal have been getting louder by the day. But Microsoft has now moved to quash chatter about an Xbox 360 replacement, with its team out in force to big up the line that Natal is a “supplement” not a reinvention. Read to find out what’s going down.
Project Natal just won’t stay out of the limelight. Just last week, Bill Gates talked up its possibility as an office–based, conference calling beast. But now the the Big M is on the back foot, batting off rumours of a rejigged Xbox 360 packing Natal’s motion sensing camera.
Taking to Ars Technica, Microsoft’s Albert Penello was quick to reinforce the belligerent company line. “The beauty is that Project Natal will work with every Xbox 360, so there’s no need to buy a new console. Consumers don’t want another $400 box right now.”
Project Natal coming to Windows – Bill Gates
True, but what about in a year’s time? Releasing the camera as an add–on might be a shoe–in, but you can bet Microsoft will have something up its sleeve to give the Xbox 360 a new look. After all, it’s already said it sees this as the next generation.
Whatever happens if Project Natal is as good as it looks on video we’ll be happy, if somewhat stupid looking, gamers.
