SegaOh hello. Sega‘s gone a bit JJ Abrams on us and put up a mysterious holding page on its website, showing a lotto ball tumbler counting down the time. Just what’s it for exactly? Rumours are flying around that a new Super Monkey Ball is on the way, but here’s something else we spotted in the code: OutRun. Did that start your engine? Is the classic racer about to return to consoles? Read on to see what we know so far.

Head on over to Sega’s official site right now and you’ll find this mysterious “Jackpot” flash page, which rolls out balls with numbers on when you pull the lever. They’re counting down the time in days, hours and minutes to something this Tuesday, but what’s Sega got planned exactly?

Kotaku thinks Sega is about to launch a new Super Monkey Ball that makes use of the Wii Balance Board, but when we had a look at the page source, we couldn’t find any reference to it (other than the lotto balls, that is). What we did find though? The program’s been titled “Outrun”.

Intriguing. Either Sega is changing the name to different Sega franchises to fool anyone sniffing around, or a new OutRun is on the way, not so long after it debuted on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Keep your eyes on the ball for a Sega announcement next week either way.
