LG BD370 Blu-ray player

Looks nice, doesn’t it? And the good news is the LG BD370 Blu-ray player is more than just a looker. Its piano black exterior hidesful Blu-ray profile 2.0 functions, as well as the ability to upscale DVDs, play back files from a USB connection, and grab YouTube clips from the web. All that, for a shade over £200.

And, of course, the LG BD370 Blu-ray player is a serious looker. The shell is slim and shiny, with neat metalic touches up front. Inside, the LG BD370 has enough grunt to make sure Blu-ray discs load quickly, and of course, everything is dished up in pin-sharp full HD.

The LG BD370 Blu-ray player also polishes up existing DVDs, upscaling them to near HD standards. And then there’s the extras LG has packed inside.

Also able to bag YouTube video from the web, the LG BD370 surpasses rival players by wrapping YouTube in a neat interface. It’s smart, looks the business, and is easy to use. The only downside is its inability to grab HD content from YouTube, despite it being freely available on a PC. The shiny Blu-ray box will also play movie and photo files from a USB stick, acting as a mini media hub.

On the downsise, it’s a shame the LG BD370 Blu-ray player doesn’t pack Wi-Fi built in. The benefits of hooking it up to the internet are myriad, but the clunky ethernet connection means it needs to be parked near your router.

Overall though, those points are negligible. The LG BD370 is a thoroughly capable machine, and wrapped with a design that won’t look out of place under even the swankiest telly. Unless you’re desperate to play games on a PlayStation 3, this is one of the best Blu-ray machines in the world. Great picture, cracking design, a fantastic interface and tasty extras. Colour us Blu with contentment.
