Virgin Media is the latest major player to throw its lot in with the netbook revolution. Dubbed the Freedom, it’ll be offered up to those who sign on the dotted line for lengthy fixed and mobile broadband deals. Keep reading to see just what Virgin Media’s netbook brings to the party.
The Virgin Media Freedom netbook certainly looks the part. There’s a rather slick red or black finish, but underneath that bod’ are all the usual specs you’d expect from a regulation netbook. That means an Intel Atom processor, 10.2–inch screen, Windows XP and 1GB of RAM. There’s only a 120GB HDD though. Not the usual 160GB, but we won’t quibble.
Obviously you get Wi–Fi thrown in too, although the Freedom netbook’s battery is limited to a measly two and a half hours. Now that hardly does its cred any good when most netbooks can squeeze out almost double that.
Virgin says you’ll be able to lay your mitts on the Freedom netbook for nowt when you sign up for two year fixed and mobile broadband deals. Not bad, but with so many other great offers on–the–go, you might want to shop around before you hand Mr Branson your hard–earned.
