Windows 7Windows 7 is primed for pre-order. And if you show Microsoft some money love now, you’ll get a massive discount on the rather tasty new version of the world’s most popular OS. Want to know just how many extra pennies you’ll have to spend down your local? You’d best read on.

Microsoft has thrown the virtual doors open on Windows 7 pre-orders. But those who found the initial prices of the OS more akin to those of rival Apple will be pleased to know that you can nab Windows 7 for a cut price.

Windows 7 Home Premium has been knocked down from £149.99 to just £49.99. You can lay your hands on Windows 7 Professional for a mere £99.99. Wait and you’ll end up forking out £219.99 for the specced up version.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft is making sure this has an air of exclusivity, so if you don’t get your pre-order in sharp, it’ll be back to paying prices for Windows 7 that’d make even Manchester City’s owners blush.

Once you’ve paid up, you’ll have to wait until 22 October, Windows 7’s official release date, to install it on your PC. But by then, you might want to see just what the Google Chrome OS has up its techy sleeve in the meantime.

Ordered mine this morning. As a RC user I’d be happy to pay £50 just to get to carry on using what I have.

  5. Whilst I appreciate that it is cheap, very cheap, I still feel a little upset that here in europe we don’t get IE8… I will buy it, but only once I’m over it, or an international version is available on the bay for the same price!
