Sony Ericsson has been leaking secret phone prototypes left, right and centre of late, but it looks like something more solid is about to break. We’ve got word that Sony Ericsson is planning a product announcement for later today, but what’s it about to whip the covers off?
According to Sony Ericsson’s official Twitter feed, “new product announcements” are due today, at least for the North American division. Just what’s it prepping? Several options spring to mind: if it’s handsets, it could be a more definite release date for the trio of Sony Ericsson phones unveiled in May, the Satio, Aino and Yari.
It could be the official unveiling for the Sony Ericsson Kiki phone with no back, or even the first time the ugly Bao struts its stuff on the catwalk. What we’re holding out for though is more word on Sony Ericsson’s Android phone, which looks to be the Sony Ericsson Xperia “Rachael”. As we’ve seen from a leaked video, the company’s reskinned Android, making it look even slicker than HTC’s Sense overlay.
Keep in mind that Sony Ericsson’s promising products rather than phone specifically, so it could be priming a speaker or Bluetooth watch or two, but we reckon it’s got its head round this Twitter thing enough to realise that anticlimax might have a big backlash.
