Sharp LE700 LED TV hands-on!

Sony’s not the only company with a new TV range today: Sharp has just shown off the dazzling Sharp LE700 LED TV, and its little brother, the LE600. They’re the first Sharp Aquos LCD tellies to use white LED backlighting to up the contrast on screen, and from our hands and eyes-on, they’ve been worth the wait. Come and see for yourself in our gallery.

The 100Hz Sharp LE700 is a full 1080p picture box pumping out 1080p visual with a twist: the dynamic contrast ratio has been upped thanks to hundreds of LEDs behind the screen, which allow for blacker blacks and whiter whites on screen at exactly the same time.

Sharp had a Sharp LE700 on display next to one of its older generation LCD panels, and you could clearly see the difference: the Sharp LE700 is much richer and skin particularly looks much more like its real shade than ever before.

The Sharp LE700 and LE600 both pack in 4 HDMI ports, and stretch from 32-inch to 52 and 46-inch models respectively, and hit shelves from early next month, but come see them close up in our hands-on gallery right here!
