iPhone 3GThere’s been rumour of iPhone exclusivity coming to an end for months now, but the whispers have just turned to shouts, with T-Mobile confirming that it’s in talks with Apple to stock the iPhone 3G, and Orange on the cards too.

The Register reports that T-Mobile has confirmed it’s discussing bringing the iPhone 3G to the network within the coming months – and that Orange is believed to be too.

The iPhone 3GS will still stay an O2 exclusive (Just like the rival Palm Pre), so if you want video recording on T-Mobile, you’ll still have to gamble on a jailbreak solution.

If the iPhone 3G does lose exclusivity, it’ll be interesting to see how low the price can go, especially since O2 didn’t drop the price of it as AT&T did in the US last month.

Similar reports have emerged out of America in the last few months, so it looks like Apple is beginning to change its business model for the iPhone. Will it work? We’ll soon see.

bring on the competition – hopefully this will teach O2 to value clients and offer better tariffs to loyal clients

I could not agree more with you. O2 does not need to value it’s clients when it is selling such a successful product. The times they are a changing.

    Hi
    This is interesting,
    Thank you.

sadly the current iphone on O2 doesnt provide decent reception in many areas including central london. It quite funny seeing all the iphone jockeys pressing themselves up against the windows and out the front of the building…..

sadly, its not vodaphone at least there network generally provides the most coverage…

if your going to get an iphone on orange, you may as well buy an itouch and save the cash…. their reception in and around london is dire…. I imagine in the provences it must be shocking?

Does this mean we’ll see that 4Gb version surfacing, along with discounted deals instead of fixed pricing?

    I suspect it does.
