Bioshock 2Bioshock 2′s release date has been shoved back way into 2010, with Take–Two saying it needs more time to get the sequel to one of the decade’s hottest games up to scratch. Gutted? We are too. Read on to find out just when you’ll be able to get your sweaty paws on Bioshock 2.

The news of Bioshock 2‘s delay comes six weeks after it got its official unveiling at E3 in LA. Take–Two’s CEO Ben Feder said keeping it back,”…was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve.” This despite the recent news that four different studios are busy working on the title.

Take–Two has shifted its planned release from 30 October here in the UK, back until “the next fiscal year.” That means April 2010 at the earliest, a massive six months after we thought we’d be hunkering back down in Rapture for a lengthy session, set ten years after the original, awesome game.

Bioshock 2 isn’t the only game to suffer. Mafia II has also been pushed back until 2010. This all smacks of GTA IV’s huge delays a couple of years back. Still, at least we can occupy ourselves with Modern Warfare II while we wait, eh?
