Street Fighter IIHere’s a great way to procrastinate on a Friday arvo: play Street Fighter II. Nope, you don’t need to head down the arcade or skirt round your company’s admin controls to install an emulator. This version plays right in your browser! Read on to find out how you can start hurling hadoukens for free.

Street Fighter IV has just launched for the PC, and to celebrate, Metaboli has come up with a great new publicity stunt: make Street Fighter II free, and playable from your browser. Who needs all those fancy 3D graphics, right?

Head on over to Kongregate, and if you’ve got Flash installed, you’ll be able to play Street Fighter II Champion Edition, which means you’ll be able to play as Ken, Ryu or even M. Bison, and have a crack at the mini games including barrel breaking.

We’ve had a play of online Street Fighter II, and while you’ll want to hook up a gamepad if possible, it works zippy enough with a keyboard. If you’ll excuse us, we’re off for a few rounds to break up our endless Quake Live fragging sessions.

Sweet works nicely on my PS3.
